Coding & OASIS: Medications

ICD-10-CM allows for the coding of medication-related issues from poisonings to adverse effects to underdosings, with the Guidelines listing example reactions such as delirium, tachycardia, hepatitis, GI bleeding and hypokalemia. Discover how to look up the appropriate TDC code and necessary additional diagnoses using the Coding Center, then how to sequence these codes appropriately.

On the OASIS, the medication items require the agency to review the patient's drug regimen, assess and educate on proper management, and take action when issues are spotted ... with particular attention paid to high-risk meds. Learn why properly completing these items is important and where to find key guidance on the Coding Center. - Recorded July 31, 2025
